🚫 Why avoid knots on a hollow Dyneema® braid?

1. Slippage and risk of opening

   • HMPE fibers are very smooth .

   • On a hollow braid, a knot has no solid grip: it can slide and come undone under load or following repeated jolts.

2. Major mechanical loss

   • The node creates a stress concentration point .

   • The fibers are crushed and damaged.

   • Result: resistance drops by 40 to 60% .
     👉 A rope rated for 4,000 daN will only support 1,600 to 2,400 daN.

3. Accelerated wear

   • Internal friction of the knot causes premature fatigue of the fibers.

   • The actual lifespan of the rope is greatly reduced.
