How to Secure Dyneema Whipping Twine on a Needle
Dyneema whipping twine is extremely strong, but its surface is also particularly slippery. It can therefore easily slip out of the eye of the needle while making a whipping or a splice lock stitch.
To prevent this problem, simply insert the needle back through the whipping twine itself.
How to secure Dyneema whipping twine on a needle
- Pass the Dyneema whipping twine through the eye of the needle.
- Leave at least 7 cm of twine extending beyond the needle.
- Insert the needle through the centre of the braided twine.
- Pull the twine until the pierced section slides up against the eye of the needle.
The twine tightens around the needle and remains securely attached while you work.
How to remove the twine from the needle
Once the whipping is complete, gently pull on the standing part, which is the long section of the twine.
The locking section releases without needing to cut the twine or untie a knot.
This method is particularly suitable for braided Dyneema whipping twine because the needle can pass directly through its braided structure.
