This option allows you to choose the cockpit-end termination for a double-braid halyard.

Depending on your setup, we can add a Dyneema whipping or a messenger loop to make installing and replacing the halyard inside the mast easier.

Available termination options

Dyneema whipping
This finish secures the end of the rope and prevents the cover from unravelling. It creates a compact termination suitable when the halyard is led directly through rope clutches, cleats or winches.

Messenger loop
A small loop is integrated into the end of the halyard, allowing a messenger line to be attached easily. It can be used to install a new halyard or remove the existing one while keeping the messenger line in place inside the mast.

The loop is designed to keep the end compact and make it easier to pass through sheaves, mast exits, deck organizers and rope clutches.

Warning: the messenger loop is intended solely for pulling or replacing the halyard. It is not a load-bearing loop and must not be used to carry any load.

Important: this service must be ordered with a compatible double-braid rope. The termination is made directly in our workshop before shipping.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a whipping and a messenger loop?

A whipping simply secures the end of the rope and prevents the cover from unravelling. A messenger loop also makes it easy to attach a thin messenger line when installing or replacing the halyard inside the mast.

What is a messenger line used for?

A messenger line is a thin line used to pull a halyard through the mast. When a halyard is removed, the messenger line remains in place so that the new halyard can be pulled through along the same route.

Can the messenger loop carry a load?

No. It is designed solely for pulling the halyard during installation or replacement. It must not be used as an attachment point or as a load-bearing loop.

Does the messenger loop interfere with the halyard running through the rig?

No. It is made as compact as possible so that the end can pass easily through sheaves, mast exits and the various deck fittings.

Do I need to add 1 metre of rope for this termination?

No. Unlike a double-braid splice, a whipping or messenger loop does not require an additional metre to be added to the desired working length.

Can this service be ordered separately?

No. This option must be ordered with the corresponding double-braid rope. The termination is made directly onto the rope before shipping.
