Depending on your application, we can produce a whipping, a single-braid splice, a locked splice or a splice with a protective cover. These terminations are particularly suitable for lashings, textile attachments, fastening loops and various custom-made assemblies.
Compatible single-braid ropes
HMPE hollow braid for ropework
Versatile and strong, this hollow braid is suitable for producing lashings, textile loops, lacings and deck hardware assemblies. Its low stretch and excellent strength-to-weight and price ratio make it suitable for numerous applications on board.
Dyneema SK99 hollow braid for ropework
This braid is designed for applications requiring maximum strength with minimal diameter and weight. Its extremely low stretch makes it particularly suitable for heavily loaded lashings, racing applications and textile components subjected to high loads.
Technora hollow braid for bobstays and bowsprits
Technora is particularly suitable for assemblies exposed to chafing and heat build-up. Compared with HMPE fibres, it also offers better dimensional stability under sustained loads and lower creep. This braid is particularly suitable for bobstays, bowsprits and textile attachments working continuously under tension or in contact with deck hardware.
Compatible protective covers
Dyneema protective cover
Lightweight, flexible and highly abrasion-resistant, the Dyneema protective cover protects loops and contact areas around a shackle, ring, chainplate or other piece of deck hardware while retaining good flexibility.
Technora protective cover
The Technora protective cover is recommended when the rope is exposed to heavy chafing, repeated friction or heat build-up. It provides reinforced protection where the rope comes into contact with deck hardware and in heavily loaded assemblies.
The protective cover is sold separately. Choose a cover compatible with the rope diameter and specify its length and the area to be protected in the order notes.
Available terminations
Dyneema thread whipping
This finish neatly secures the end of the rope and prevents the fibres from unravelling. It is suitable when a spliced loop is not required or when the rope needs to be finished with a knot.
Single-braid splice
The splice forms a loop directly in the rope without using a knot. It creates a compact and strong attachment to a shackle, ring or piece of deck hardware. It is particularly suitable for producing lashings and custom-made textile assemblies.
Locked single-braid splice
This splice includes an additional locking mechanism that limits the risk of slipping or opening when the rope is unloaded or subjected to varying loads. It is recommended for assemblies that are handled frequently or alternate between loaded and unloaded conditions.
Single-braid splice with protective cover
A Dyneema or Technora cover is incorporated into the splice to protect the contact area against chafing. This finish creates a protected loop or attachment that can work around a shackle, ring, chainplate or other piece of deck hardware.
The protective cover locally increases the rope diameter. It is therefore important to check its compatibility with rings, sheaves and other narrow passages.

Important: this service must be ordered with a compatible HMPE, Dyneema or Technora single-braid rope. The termination is produced directly in our workshop before dispatch.
For each splice, add 1 metre to the required working length of the rope. If both ends need to be spliced, add 2 metres. Please also specify the required internal length of each loop in the order notes.
Frequently asked questions
Which ropes are compatible with these terminations?
These services are intended for compatible HMPE, Dyneema or Technora single-braid ropes. They are not suitable for double-braid ropes consisting of a core and a cover.
What is the difference between a standard splice and a locked splice?
A standard splice works by burying the rope inside itself. A locked splice includes an additional locking mechanism that limits the risk of opening when the rope is not under tension.
Which termination should I choose for a lashing?
The choice depends on the intended assembly. A standard splice may be suitable for an assembly that remains under tension. A locked splice is preferable when the lashing is handled regularly or may become unloaded.
What is the protective cover used for?
It protects the rope in areas exposed to friction, particularly where it comes into contact with a shackle, ring, chainplate or piece of deck hardware.
Is the protective cover included in the price of the splice?
No. The protective cover is sold separately and must be added to the order. The service includes fitting it to the splice.
What size loop will be produced?
We produce the loop to the internal length you specify. Please provide this measurement in the order notes.
Why must additional rope be added to produce a splice?
Part of the rope must be buried back inside the braid to form and secure the loop. Add 1 metre per splice to the required working length.
Can this service be ordered separately?
No. This option must be ordered with the corresponding single-braid rope. The termination is produced directly on the rope before dispatch.
