Unlike a setup using two separate sheets tied directly to the spinnaker clew, a continuous sheet is made from a single rope. The strop connects the sheet to the sail.
This setup moves the spinnaker clew away from the forestay and eliminates bulky knots close to it. More compact and free-running, it allows the sheet to slide more easily around the forestay during gybes and reduces the risk of the sheet snagging or the spinnaker wrapping around the forestay.
The loop terminations allow the two ends of the sheet to be easily connected in the cockpit to close the continuous circuit, while making them easy to identify and retrieve.

The strop is available in several lengths to adjust the distance between the spinnaker clew and the forestay:

- 70 cm
- 100 cm

- Dyneema SK99: maximum strength and very low stretch.

What is the purpose of the strop on a continuous spinnaker sheet?
The strop moves the spinnaker clew away from the forestay. It helps the sheet pass around the forestay during a gybe and reduces the risk of snagging or the spinnaker wrapping around the forestay.
Where is the strop integrated into the sheet?
The strop is integrated into the centre of the spinnaker sheet. This keeps the same sheet length on both sides and creates a balanced continuous sheet.
What is the difference between a continuous sheet and two separate sheets?
With two separate sheets, each rope is usually attached to the spinnaker with a knot. With a continuous sheet, both sides are joined to form a single circuit. This setup runs more smoothly and eliminates two bulky knots that could snag on the forestay.
How do I choose the right strop length?
The correct length mainly depends on the boat’s configuration, the position of the spinnaker clew and the required distance from the forestay. Available lengths are 30, 50, 70 and 100 cm. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering.
Should I choose an HMPE or Dyneema SK99 strop?
HMPE offers an excellent strength-to-price ratio and is suitable for most applications. Dyneema SK99 is recommended when greater strength, a smaller diameter and particularly low stretch are required.
Can this system be used with a jib, genoa or gennaker?
Yes. This system can also be used with a jib, genoa or gennaker sheet, provided the deck layout is compatible with a continuous sheet. If you are unsure, contact us so that we can check compatibility with your setup.
Can I order the strop separately?
No. This option is designed to be integrated during the manufacture of a continuous sheet. It must therefore be ordered together with the corresponding sheet.
Is the strop supplied already fitted to the sheet?
Yes. The strop and loop terminations are made and integrated directly into the sheet in our workshop. The complete assembly is supplied ready to install on board.
