INSIGNA Self-Adhesive Tape for Sail Repair
The INSIGNA self-adhesive tape allows you to quickly repair, reinforce or protect a sail or equipment made from polyester fabric.
Easy to keep on board, it can be used both for emergency repairs and as preventive protection against chafing. Its 5 cm width makes it ideal for treating a small tear, a friction area or a weakened point without having to cut a large piece of fabric.
Uses of INSIGNA Tape
INSIGNA adhesive tape can be used in particular to:
- repair a small tear in a sail;
- reinforce an area exposed to chafing or friction;
- protect a sensitive area preventively;
- carry out a temporary repair directly on board;
- repair or reinforce certain items made from polyester fabric.
It is particularly suitable for mainsails, genoas, jibs, spinnakers, boat covers, wingfoil wings, kitesurfing kites and kites.

How to Use INSIGNA Sail Repair Tape
For good adhesion:
1️⃣ Carefully clean and dry the area to be repaired.
2️⃣ Cut the tape to the required length.
3️⃣ If possible, round off the corners to reduce the risk of peeling.
4️⃣ Apply the tape and press it firmly onto the fabric.
5️⃣ Smooth the surface to remove air bubbles and ensure even adhesion.
For a more durable repair of a tear, we recommend, whenever possible, applying a patch to both sides of the sail to distribute the loads more evenly.
INSIGNA Tape, Patches or Fabric?
This 5 cm wide tape is particularly suitable for small repairs, local reinforcement and protection against chafing.
For repairs requiring a larger surface area without having to cut a large piece of fabric, we also offer our 22.5 × 22.5 cm INSIGNA self-adhesive patches . They are particularly practical for medium-sized tears or reinforcement areas.
For larger repairs or custom cutting, we also offer INSIGNA self-adhesive fabric in 142 cm width .

Can this tape be used to repair a sail?
Yes. It is particularly suitable for small repairs on Dacron sails or other polyester fabrics.
Does the tape need to be sewn after application?
No. The tape is self-adhesive and can be used on its own for small repairs. For structural repairs or areas subject to high loads, additional stitching may nevertheless be recommended.
Can it be used for repairs while sailing?
Yes. Its compact size makes it easy to keep on board for quickly carrying out a temporary repair or protecting an area that is beginning to wear.
Can it be used on a wing or kitesurfing kite?
It can be used on certain polyester fabrics for small repairs or protection. However, for a major repair, it is best to check the compatibility of the adhesive with the fabric concerned.
What is the difference between INSIGNA tape, patches and fabric?
The 5 cm wide tape is suitable for small repairs, narrow areas and protection against chafing. The 22.5 × 22.5 cm patches are better suited to medium-sized local repairs. The 142 cm wide INSIGNA fabric is intended for larger repairs and custom cutting.
